Testing the Silvanet Network
After planning and deploying the Silvanet Network system, we recommend first, verifying the deployment and then testing the deployment with a small controlled fire.
Warning
Before testing the deployment, the sensors need to calibrate for 14 days in the target forest. This allows the devices to reliably detect a fire.
Overview
Once the Silvanet Sensors and gateways have been installed, the system needs to be prepared for operation. Generally, this involves the following steps:
-
Let the sensors and the Mesh Gateway(s) fully charge up with their built-in solar panels. This requires at least 24 hours.
-
Ensure the sensors self-calibrate for 14 days.
-
Ensure the Border Gateway has power from its energy source and that the solar panel is providing power.
-
Verify the deployment, including the sensor and mesh network connections to the Silvanet Cloud.
-
Run a controlled fire to generate the necessary smoke to initiate a Fire Alert.
